The State Tretyakov Gallery - The National Museum of Russian Fine Art The State Tretyakov Gallery is the national treasury of Russian fine art and one of the greatest museums in the world. It is located in one of the oldest directs of Moscow - Zamoskvorechye, not far from the Kremlin. The Gallery's collection consists entirely of Russian art and artists who have made ? contribution to the history of Russian art or been closely connected with it. The collection contains more than 150 000 works of painting, sculpture and graphics, created throughout the centuries by successive generations of Russian artists. Russian art works, ranging in date from the 11th to the early 20th century, are on the show in Gallery's historic building on Lavrushinskiy Pereulok.. Visit The State Tretyakov Gallery The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is the largest museum of European art in Moscow, located in Volkhonka street, just opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The museum's name is misleading, as it has nothing to do with the famous Russian poet. It would be more fitting if the museum were named for its real founder, professor Ivan Tsvetaev (father of the poet Marina Tsvetaeva). Tsvetaev persuaded the young millionaire Yuriy Nechaev-Maltsov and the fashionable architect Roman Klein of the urgent need to give Moscow a fine arts museum. The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts State Historical Museum The State Historical Museum of Russia is a museum of Russian history wedged between Red Square and Manege Square in Moscow. Its exhibitions range from relics of the prehistoric tribes inhabiting present-day Russia, through priceless artworks acquired by members of the Romanov dynasty. The total number of objects in the museum's collection numbers in the millions. State Historical Museum Bolshoi Theatre The Bolshoi Theatre (also spelled Bolshoy) is a historic theatre in Moscow, Russia, designed by the architect Joseph Bov?, which holds performances of ballet and opera. The Bolshoi Ballet and Bolshoi Opera are amongst the oldest and greatest ballet and opera companies of the world, respectively. The theatre is the parent company of The Bolshoi Ballet Academy, a world-leading school of ballet. Bolshoi Theatre Moscow Art Theatre The Moscow Art Theatre is a theatre company in Moscow that the seminal Russian theatre practitioner Constantin Stanislavski, together with the playwright and director Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, founded in 1897. It was conceived as a venue for naturalistic theatre, in contrast to the melodramas that were Russia's dominant form of theatre at the time.. Moscow Art Theatre Moscow International House of Music Moscow International Performance Arts Center, opened in 2003, also known as Moscow International House of Music, is situated on the Kosmodamianskaya Embankment off the Garden Ring Road, and is known for its performances in classical music. It is part of a business and hotel complex called Riverside Towers. The New York Times called the Center "...a performing arts complex intended to be the city's answer to Lincoln Center."1 It also has the largest organ in Russia installed in Svetlanov hall. Moscow International House of Music Moscow State Circus The Great Moscow State Circus is an auditorium in Moscow located at the Vernadsky Prospekt.It was opened 30 April 1971. It can seat up to 3,400 people and the height of the amphitheatre is 36 metres. Performances are held each day in the afternoon and evening. The circus has 5 arenas (equestrian, water, illusionist, ice rink, and light-effect) located 18 metres below the floor which can be swapped during the performance. Initially the Circus building was merely a performance venue. In early 1990s its own company was formed. It is headed by Leonid Kostyuk, a former circus artist, equilibrist.
